Morning Routine

The first thing to note is, there is no typical day in the life of an estate agent - every day really is different. Your days will most likely start off with a cup of coffee and a commute into work, to start your day somewhere between 8:00am and 9:00am depending on your employer. Usually, when you get into the office you may have a morning meeting with your office manager to discuss any new properties, news, or information that you may need to know before starting your day. From here, your day as an estate agent will begin.

AM Tasks

Your morning will most likely involve a lot of calls, emails, and speaking with new and existing clients. You may engage with landlords or property owners, communicating with potential tenants or buyers, arranging viewings, and checking paperwork. Managing your time efficiently as an estate agent is key, and being able to juggle multiple tasks at once is something you will certainly become good at if you’re not yet already.

PM Tasks

You might have scheduled some viewings for the afternoon, and if so then you will be out of the office showing potential buyers or tenants around a property that you are working on. Or maybe you don’t have any viewings scheduled for the day, and will spend the rest of your day in the office speaking with potential buyers or tenants and talking them through the sales or tenancy process.

Your afternoon may involve liaising with solicitors, surveyors, and financial advisors to sort the sales and exchange of a property, and dealing with documentation. It could also include notifying registered buyers or potential tenants of new properties, arranging viewings for the next day, negotiating offers, and more.

End of The Day

Your day will typically end between 5:00pm and 6:00pm; days can really vary as an estate agent - with no two days being the same. This makes working in property so exciting, as there are always new duties and responsibilities to be done and you can be sure that you will never be bored. You will be working in a busy environment, with a busy schedule - which can be super demanding but also extremely rewarding. If you want a career that is highly motivating, exciting, and varied then being an estate agent could be the right career path for you.
