A How-To Guide on Dealing With Interview Nerves

It does not matter if you believe yourself to be destined to tackle a property manager job, or you are attempting to get through the door of a banking organisation - at some point, you will be asked to go for an interview. There are some people reading this that aren’t phased by this; they relish the challenge, and have full-confidence that they will make a good impression. If this doesn’t describe you, and you are currently suffering from anxiety, it could be worthwhile to take a look at the tips on how to deal with nerves below, courtesy of the Pear Recruitment team.

Establish the Location

Picture the scene: you have been informed that the role is based in London, but you are not actually from the city. This means that you might have little-to-no idea as to where the company operates from - this is something that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. If you can’t get the time to complete a practice journey, at the very least it would be wise to check the Internet for directions. Come the day of the interview, we promise that this preparation will not be in vain.

Do Your Homework

It should go without saying, but in the build-up before any interview you should dedicate long periods of time towards researching the company in question. This means familiarising yourself with the history of the firm, as well as the types of clients that they usually take-on. With this knowledge, you won’t have to concern yourself with the possibility of being surprised by any of the usual questions that crop-up during interviews.

  Dress to Impress

From the moment that you walk through the interview doors, you can expect that you will be judged - appearances are everything, especially if you want to become an integral part of a real estate agency. You need to remember that you will, at some point or another, be showing prospective buyers around residential properties. If you are not able to demonstrate that you can put-together a first-class outfit, it will be notoriously difficult for you to proceed.

Be Confident

The reality of the situation is that you have applied for the role because you envision yourself doing well; if you don’t have the necessary credentials, you would not have been granted an interview in the first place. It is for this reason that you have every right to be confident that you have what it takes to thrive. Consider the journey that you have been on to get to this point - when you look back at the skills that you have acquired, and the experience that you have amassed, you are more-than entitled to have some self-belief.

Are You Still Struggling?

Whether you are applying for any property jobs in London that pop-up, or feel that you are the ideal candidate to handle the local estate agent position that you have been made aware of, it is natural that you might be experiencing feelings of nervousness. However, provided that you take the necessary time to familiarise yourself with the role and the company, there is nothing to say that you can’t succeed in your interview.

If you are struggling to get onto the employment ladder, be it in Central London or elsewhere in the country, now might be the time to entertain the exciting opportunity to join Pear Recruitment’s ever-growing roster of clients.
