If you have an interview coming up for an estate agent position, you may be wondering what kind of questions will be asked. Although each and every company is different and will have a different set of interview questions, there are some common questions that you can expect to be asked when interviewing for this kind of role.
Here at Pear Recruitment, our team of consultants have a wealth of experience in preparing candidates for interviews and have a number of tips, tricks, and knowledge to share with you to make sure you ace your interview. We have chosen 3 questions to focus on that you may be asked, and hopefully, you will feel more prepared and comfortable for your interview process.
Why Do You Want to Be an Estate Agent?
This can be the hardest question to answer, but it allows you to share your skill-set, motivations, and your career goals with your interviewer. Some key points to focus on are that you enjoy working with people, that you thrive in a busy environment where tasks and challenges crop up and how this motivates you, and that you want to succeed and grow within the company.
Working as an estate agent can be a very rewarding career in terms of progression; you can explain that you are motivated to make money and drive sales for the company. Make sure to research the company you’re interviewing for, and think about what interests you about them and what goals and values they have that align with you.
Share with your interviewer your interest in the property market, and what drove you to want to become an estate agent.
Why Do You Think You Would Be a Good Fit for this Role?
This question provides you with the perfect opportunity for you to share your previous work experience that relates to the position you are interviewing for. Your interviewer will want to hear about skills that you have that correlate with the position, and essentially why they should hire you and why you’d be successful in the role.
If you do not have any relevant work experience, emphasise on your general skills; communication, persuasion, hard work, motivation, drive and enthusiasm. Think about what skills are necessary in an estate agent role, and what you can personally bring to the table that will make you stand out compared to other potential candidates.
Make sure to read over the job description and think about which key responsibilities you would excel in, and link them with any prior experience you have.
Do You Have any Sales Experience?
Your main responsibility as an estate agent is to sell and or rent properties to customers, so your interviewer may well question your sales experience. You might not have any direct sales experience in a similar role, however, perhaps you have worked in a customer service role in the past that you can discuss and relate back to this role.
If you do not have any direct sales experience, make sure to emphasise on your interest in working in a sales role and the skills that you have that would make you great in a sales position; persuasion, negotiation, good communication skills, drive to make money for the company.
